Tacos
We truly love tacos! Over the years I have developed a recipe that works for us. My husband typically makes the hand-cut salsa. Make your own taco seasoning is easy. Recipe below.
Top your tacos with tasty delights that will make the recipe your own. I always wish I could eat just one more. Por favor, disfruta!
Taco Seasoning
1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp paprika
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp course salt
Mix ingredients together in a jar. Store in a cool place for up to 1 year.
Hand-cut Salsa • 6-8 servings
3-4 large ripe tomatoes, diced
multi-coloured peppers, diced - add half of each colour (red, yellow, orange)
1 cup sweet onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup of cilantro...add more if you desire
jalapeno pepper, minced
1 tsp lime juice or to taste
Mix well.
Taco Meat Mixture
2 Tablespoons oil (grapeseed or avocado)
1 pound ground meat, of choice
1/4 cup Taco Seasoning (more if desired)
1/4 cup water or more
In a heated skillet, sauté the ground meat until it is no longer pink. Drain grease. Sprinkle the taco seasoning onto the meat. Add water. Mix thoroughly. Simmer until the water is absorbed (add more if drying out). Serve mixture on a warm corn torilla, whole wheat or flour wraps. Top with chopped onion, grated cheese, salsa, hot sauce, cilantro, avocado and sour cream.
