Apple Cake
With an abundance of apples in my keeper, I decided to make 'Mom's Best Apple Cake' recipe. This is a family favourite. Reducing the quantity of sweetener, I drizzled maple syrup over the unbaked cake. Delicious!
Ingredients
1 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs, beaten with a fork
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp salt
3 cups diced apples
3/4 cup chopped nuts, of choice
2 cups all-purpose flour, or flour of choice
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
maple syrup, optional
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F
Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Mix other ingredients in a separate bowl. Combine ingredients...no beating required.
Drizzle batter with maple syrup before baking, optional.
Bake in a 9 x 13 inch pan for 30-35 minutes. Test doneness with a toothpick. Enjoy!
